This was a pre-release livestream for SWORD ART ONLINE: Echoes of Aincrad, aired on June 30, 2026. The program focused on live gameplay from the full version, side quests, outfit and color customization, map exploration, difficulty settings, and the world-premiere reveal of the opening movie.

During the gameplay segment, the team demonstrated a side quest from the full game and introduced the cosmetic outfit system. Players can change their character’s appearance separately from their actual equipment, and some customization features appear to be unlocked by clearing certain side quests. Compared with the demo, the full version will offer a wider range of partners, quests, and exploration routes.

The developers explained that each area of Aincrad is not fully mapped from the start. Players gradually uncover the map by exploring. Rivers, cliffs, and terrain boundaries can block direct routes, so even if a destination is visible, players may need to search for another path. Side quests and detours during main quests can reveal new dungeons, routes, and additional quests. The team repeatedly encouraged players to slow down and explore Aincrad instead of simply rushing from objective to objective.

On the combat side, they discussed camera-distance settings, preparation against status ailments, and the importance of bringing consumable items. Hard and Very Hard are recommended for players who want a demanding action-game experience, while Story and Normal are better suited for players who mainly want to enjoy the narrative and world. The developers emphasized that the first week after launch, when little guide information is available, should feel close to the original SAO experience of exploring an unknown Aincrad.

In the second half of the stream, the opening movie was shown for the first time worldwide. It features Aimer’s theme song “Live to Survive.” The song has both Japanese and English versions, and the English version can be heard when the game language is set to English. The stream also announced that the long-form animation project Unanswered//butterfly will premiere on the official SAO Game YouTube channel on July 5 at 8:00 PM JST.

At the end, the release information was shown again. The Japanese broadcast screen listed the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions for July 9, 2026, and the Steam version for July 10, 2026. The pre-order bonus includes the Proto-Elucidator Series, and save data from the demo can be carried over into the full game.
